It has been clear that the New York Jets have been the talk of the 2020 NFL season, but all for the wrong reasons. On Sunday it continued but ironically because the Jets actually won their first game of the season.

The Jets stunned the football world defeating the Los Angeles Rams 23–20. Who came into the matchup as one of the hottest teams in the league featured by a top ranked defense. The meaningless win now suddenly puts New York out of contention for Trevor Lawrence for the time being. As the Jacksonville Jaguars have leaped them for the number one overall spot — due to the strength of schedule.

Jets fans seem to never get nice things, as they were clearly ready for a winless 0–16 season. For the sake of finally seeing some light on the other side of the tunnel. That light was Trevor Lawrence who is viewed as one of the most promising prospects to enter the draft in the last 20 years. Just one day before the Jets victory, Lawrence dominated Notre Dame in the ACC Championship game going for over 400 total yards and four total touchdowns.

So what now for the Jets?

Technically the dream of landing Lawrence as their franchise quarterback is not completely dead yet. Assuming the Jets lose their remaining two games against the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots. They could still take back the first overall pick. That is if the Jags decide to snap their 13-game losing streak versus the Chicago Bears this upcoming week. To give Jets fans some positivity that task is possible. Despite being 7–7, the Bears have lost six out of their last eight games and quarterback Mitch Trubisky is always due for a poor performance.

All of Jet Nation will have to be Gardner Minshew believers this week hoping that he can put together a memorable game. Which will once again give New York some hope for the next decade.

Even with finally getting a win versus the Rams, the Jets still somehow lose which leaves you with three words. “The Goddamn Jets”.
